WELCOME NEW TEACHERS AND GREETINGS FROM
THE KOREA DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT’S OFFICE!

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Korea.  The most rewarding aspect of living and teaching in Korea will be the educational impact you will have on the children in our schools.  As it is in schools all over the world, teachers are some of the most important people in the lives of their students.  I know you will contribute both positively and professionally to the educational growth of our students in Korea.

There are eight DoDDS schools in Korea serving approximately 4,000 students throughout the peninsula.  There are approximately 400 teachers assigned to these schools.  It is expected that there will be over 60 teachers new to Korea this fall.  One of my primary goals is to provide you with as much information as possible and to assist in making your transition to Korea easy.

I look forward to your arrival in Korea.  It is a good idea to arrive at least a few days prior to the first day of school to get settled into temporary quarters, overcome jet lag, obtain identification cards and drivers’ licenses, and to begin the search for housing.

Congratulations on your new assignment to Korea!  I look forward to working with you to enhance the lives of children we are charged to serve.

Respectfully,

Samuel D. Menniti
Superintendent, DoDDS Korea
