If you have any Q&A questions you would like to pose, please email the Korea Webmaster, korea.webmaster@pac.dodea.edu.

What do I do when I land at Incheon Airport in Korea?

After you clear immigration, you will collect your baggage then continue to customs. As you exit customs, continue out and you will see a line of people waiting for passengers. If you have completed and submitted the Teacher Arrival Form, we have relayed this information to our Korea District meeter greeters and they will be waiting at this point with a sign to greet you.

If you do not see our meeter greeters, go right down the main hall of the airport to gate 14 and at the gate you will see USFK Joint Service counter, ask to use their phone and call:
LTC Hedgpath 010-3184-5752 or Larry Alvarado 011-383-7120.

What do I do if traveling with pets?

If you are traveling with pets (cat/dog), make sure you have the appropriate paperwork and your pet has obtained the required vaccines prior to traveling. Also notify the Korea DSO that you are flying with pets so we can make arrangements for your pets prior to your arrival.

For pets older than 90 days, proof of rabies vaccination (at least 30 days prior to departure) and a valid health certificate from a certified veterinarian is required. For pets younger than 90 days, a valid health certificate from a certified veterinarian is needed. For more information, visit the National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service for Korea.

When traveling with your pet you will need to proceed to customs (immediately after you pick up your bags in baggage claim) and declare to the Korean Customs your pet and appropriate paperwork. If your pet traveled as cargo on your flight, you can pick your pet up in the over sized luggage in baggage claim after you go through immigration. Also, see our page on traveling with Pets.

Why do I need to stay in Seoul my first night in Korea if I am to be stationed at another base?

The Korea District Office highly recommends that when you land in Korea you travel to Seoul, Yongsan Base, and spend your first evening at the Dragon Hill Lodge. This way, the following day, you can attend your inprocessing briefing at the DSO, then continue onto your new duty station. Also, because lodging rates vary from base to base in Korea, if you go to your new duty station prior to coming to the Korea District in-brief, the hotel cost in Seoul is much higher than other bases. So your reimbursement rate will only be your new duty station's rate. If you claim your night in Seoul on your PCS travel voucher you will get full reimbursement. If you claim your night in Seoul on your TQSA, you will only be reimbursed up to the rate of your local duty station. For more clarification on this, please contact Ms. Chon, hyesin.chon@pac.dodea.edu, at the Korea DSO. Also see our useful acronyms page.

Do I need an A-3 Visa prior to coming to Korea?

Yes, you should obtain an A-3 Visa for Korea prior to your departure. It is recommended that you have this Visa placed in your Official Passport. More information on obtaining an A-3 Visa can be found via the following link, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in USA. Also, refer to the Policy Letter referring to Offical Passports.

How do I have my email account ("Inbox") and/or home folder (H: drive) contents automatically moved when I PCS within DoDEA?

DoDEA will not move or transfer home folders or mailboxes between duty locations. In preparation for a PCS move an employee should take steps to ensure they hand-carry all of their data with them to the new location. You should coordinate, in advance, with your school's computer support personnel. They can assist you in creating CD or DVD copies of your important files that you can carry with you to your next assignment. Once at your new duty location, the files can be copied from the CD or DVD into your new account. If you are PCSing over the summer your network and email accounts at the school you are departing from will remain active during the summer or at a date coordinated with the school Administrative Technologist to facilitate the transition.

How do I access my official PAC email account remotely (e.g. from home or while traveling)?

Remote access to an individual's official PAC email is provided through a web based application called Outlook Web Access (OWA). This application is accessible using Internet Explorer. You can access your email via OWA at http://owa.pac.dodea.edu.

If I am new to DoDDS, how can I obtain an email account prior to my arrival in Korea?

Contact your school and request that you would like to obtain your school email account. Your school will put in a request to the local Administrative Technologist (AT). You will need to complete and submit to your school the Computer Internet Agreement form prior to your account being made. Your school AT will provide your user account information.
