Noncombatant Evacuation Operations (NEO) Participation

Twice a year our military communities hold a Noncombatant Evacuation Operation exercise which is commonly referred to as NEO. This exercise is designed to prepare us for evacuation from Korea if it is ever needed. While we hope this never happens, we know that NEO evacuations have occurred in other areas to include the evacuation of the personnel in the Philippines and the recent evacuation of non-combatants from Turkey and Bahrain. It is vital for our schools' staff and faculty to adequately prepare.

We strongly encourage all DoDDS-Korea employees to actively participate in all Courageous Channel exercises. The Chief of Staff, US Forces Korea, has mandated that all non-essential civilian employees who would be evacuated during a crisis situation must participate in the NEO exercise by processing through one of the Evacuation Control Centers (ECC) established to assist us through the process. Your cooperation in this effort is appreciated.

The first step you must take is to ensure that you have completed your NEO packet and that your packet has been validated by your school warden (your principal or warden designee). This exercise is part of the preparation for a save and orderly evacuation of all DoDDS staff, faculty, and family members from Korea should the need ever arise. As always, your complete cooperation and support of this exercise is greatly appreciated.
